Hey there, 2015!

Hi there! It has been such a very long time since I have posted anything. I am not going to share any shoots with you today, just sort of catch you up on my life. I’ll give you the incredibly brief version.

In late 2013, my husband, Bart, graduated from his orthodontic residency + we packed up the family + headed west. We purchased an orthodontic practice in the heart of San Antonio + I was offered a great position at USAA, which I gladly accepted. Bodie, our kiddo, finished Kindergarten at an amazing school in the Alamo Heights Independent School District + made some great friends in our neighborhood. Somewhere along the way in those first 6 months, I decided it would be a great idea to start a full-time MBA program at UTSA, on top of my full-time career, helping Bart with the practice, + being a mom. (I am half way through my second semester and graduate in May 2016, which really can’t get here soon enough!) Then we decided to finally get Bodie the puppy he has always wanted! Birdie, our new Goldendoodle, showed up on Christmas morning and has become a loved member of our little family. Then… to top off the year… we found out we are pregnant!!! And it is a girl! Needless to say… 2014 was amazing + exhausting. There were great times + really trying times. We had some grand adventures (Colorado, California, Florida, Georgia) + made some wonderful friends. We also had so many great family + friends visit us in our new home! Bart + I have been tested over + over this last year; we are learning so much about each other + our relationship. Bodie has proven to us how incredibly resilient + loving he is. He is such a joy to spend life with.

Needless to say, I didn’t have much time at all to think about photography, much less pick up my camera often. And I miss it an incredible amount. With everything going on in my life, I have lost the time that I used to fill my creative needs with. Fast-forward to 2015. I’m ready. My camera misses me + I miss my camera. I don’t think I will have the time to operate my photography business, but I plan to do a lot of creative personal work (photos and writing) this year that fills that void for me. And maybe I’ll find time in 2016 to get back to my business.

I would love for you to follow along with me!

And because no post is the same without photos, I put together a collage of some of the highlights from 2014. (Mostly iPhone photos!)

Portrait | The Belangia Family

Grace, Woody, Chloe, + Lucas.  One of the coolest families I’ve ever met.  I met Grace several years ago when I was in the Army.  She participated in a program called Augusta in Army Boots, where Soldiers were paired up with local Augustonians (is that a word?) for a 24 hour field exercise.  We clicked + have stayed in contact over the years.  I love every chance I get to shoot her beautiful family!  Here are a few of my favorites from their family shoot in November 2012.  Don’t they look like a Ralph Lauren ad?!

Portrait |Natalie

I may or may not be six months or more overdue on posting my shoots… It is really hard to keep up!  Maybe one of these days I can quit my day job + focus on photography!  A girl can dream, right?  I have a whole list of randomness that I dream of doing.  Here are just a few to share with you (mind you, I probably will never  actually attempt many of these):

-design my own wedding dress line

-build a wedding venue on our farm (no, we don’t have a farm)

-open a cupcake shop

-become a pilates instructor

-work for a company that gives running tours

-work for Rock & Roll Marathon series

See… crazy, right?

Anyway, I’m going to try to get a few shots posted from the majority of my shoots from the last six or so months.  First up is Natalie’s maternity session.

Personal | Bodie Starts Pre-K

My baby, Bodie, started Pre-K in August 2012!  This was such a huge moment for him… though I don’t think he quite understood what was coming his way.  We decided to put Bodie in a Montessori school because we feel like it really will challenge him + give him a great Christian foundation.

I tried to snap a few shots of him getting ready for bed his last night as a toddler, all the while trying to not cry my eyes out.  I love this little man with every single thing I have.  He has changed my world + helped me grow into such a better person.  I thank God for blessing me with him.
